- Preheat oven to 190c/gas mark 5 Add the sugar and butter to a mixing bowl and beat until soft and creamy.
- Add eggs to the mix and beat until mix is smooth
- Sift flour into a bowl and gradually add to mix and stir in
- Add sultanas to mix and stir in (if required)
- Add mix to cup cakes cases or baking tray and bake in oven for 15 - 20 minutes until risen and golden coloured. After baking place on wire rack to cool Make Icing
- Sift icing sugar into a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of water, mix together until it makes a thick smooth past, add water if needed.
- Take 4 tablespoons of icing and add to another bowl, add food colouring and mix
- When the cakes have cooled spread the plain icing over the tops of the cakes.
- Add the brown icing to a piping bag and draw on the spider web pattern.
